SciFinder Scholar now available at the Chemistry Students' Chapter

SciFinder Scholar is now available at the Chemistry Students' Chapter, SB046. It is the 2006 version - not yet available at the Information Commons even!

Science librarians have started office hours in SA 124 (Wolcott Lab)

I started office hours in SA124 yesterday. Drop by if you need help finding information for your research, thesis, assignments or project proposals, as well as if you have questions about the Chemistry collection (books and journals.)
I'll be available to all students and faculty:

Tuesdays 10 a.m. - noon (no appointment necessary)

Knovel is now accessible through the catalogue

Knovel is now in the catalogue, which means that it is accessible from off-campus.

What is Knovel?

Well, it provides access to hundreds of electronic handbooks. Some of these handbooks include tables and graphs that can be manipulated electronically.

One thing to note about Knovel: the default search is for their whole collection, not for the subsets of the collection that we're subscribed to. So, makre sure you click on the "My Subscription" radio button before searching.

Knovel is also working on its own toolbar, for frequent users.

Chemistry titles include: Lange's Handbook of Chemistry, Chemistry of the Elements, Hawley's Condensed Chemical Dictionary, etc. There are 115 in the Chemistry & Chemical Engineering subject area alone.
