I've been getting a few questions about the CHEM 409 assignment, so have resurrected a page from the old Web site and put it up on the new site:
http://kbsubguides.library1.ucalgary.ca/?View=entry&EntryID=938
(Or: Library homepage http://library.ucalgary.ca/ --> Research Support --> Science & Engineering --> Chemistry --> Library Instruction Guides)
It sounds like the assignment involves finding some general information about a sulfate, so I'd suggest the first two encyclopedias listed on the page, Kirk-Othmer and Ullman's first. For reaction mechanisms, try the links under the books heading. For statistical and price data, try the link to the Engineering Librarian's page.
Hopefully that will get you started, but if you have other questions, contact me.

Science Librarians in the Gallagher Library
Most of the Science Librarians' offices are in the MacKimmie Library, but some of us will be in the Gallagher Library in the Earth Sciences Building at the following times. Hopefully this will be more convenient for you as most science classes are in ST, SA, SB and Earth Sciences:
- Geography, Kinesiology Librarian, Sue McKee: Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:30am - 11:30am
- Biology, Physics & Astronomy, Mathematics & Statistics Librarian, Don MacMillan: Wednesdays, 11am-1pm
- Chemistry, Computer Science Librarian, Jennifer Lee: Thursdays, 12:15pm-2pm
The Engineering and ISEEE Librarian, Leeanne Morrow and the Geology/Geophysics Librarian, Claudette Cloutier have their offices are in the Gallagher Library, so you can stop by to see them whenever the library is open.
Hours started this week (October 14) and will go to the last day of classes, December 5.
