As of November 17, 2009, new SciFinder enhancements are available via your web browser. Reflecting CAS' commitment to continuous improvement of SciFinder performance, this release includes several performance and usability enhancements, such as:
- Improved navigation and search speed for faster retrieval of answers
- Increased ease-of-use when switching between reaction and substance structure search types within the drawing editor
- Improved access to the drawing editor, via Java 1.5 or earlier versions*
To access these enhancements, merely log in. If you have any questions, please contact CAS at help@cas.org, 800-753-4227 (North America), 614-447-3700 (worldwide), or through your CAS Representative.
*Java versions prior to 1.6 are no longer supported by Sun Microsystems
and CAS.

SciFinder, Safari and drawing editor
If you use Safari, and get the following when trying to draw structures in SciFinder:
"a new box appears that says it is opening, but it hangs"
try the following in Safari:
Get Info > Open using Rosetta option to OFF (unchecked)

Summon - try our new search tool
We're excited to introduce you to Summon, a discovery tool that allows you to search across all the collections of Libraries and Cultural Resources (Library, Archives, Museum) along with scholarly material from thousands of publishers. Our intention is to allow you to discover previously-hidden local resources that may be relevant to your research.
We're labeling it as a beta because we know it's got a ways to go, and that's where you come in. Please use Summon for your searches, and let us know what you like about it, and where it still needs work.
