Program Agenda:

More and more faculty are combining web sites and online discussions with classroom teaching. University staff and administrators are looking for fast and easy ways to publish new content, invite comments and facilitate networking. Both of these groups are turning to weblogs as a solution.

Weblogs or blogs are simple means of publishing content on the web that has caught on like wildfire. Learn how blogs are being used in higher education. Take a tour of some academic weblogs created by faculty, staff and students at academic institutions. See how these blogs are supporting on-site and distance learning, classroom discussions, student writing, individual and collaborative work, campus community building, student recruitment, and closer ties between colleges and their communities.

If you're thinking of starting a weblog for yourself, your class, your department or your institution, what should you consider before diving in? Learn about weblog software choices and features such as RSS syndication, comments, permalinks, editorial roles, and administrative issues.
