If you've come from the University of Calgary Library's Chemistry Information Resources pages, welcome!
This blog is a bit of an experiment: what is a good way to keep Chemistry faculty, students and staff informed about the Library's activities? We have communicated through e-mail, the Chemistry Library Coordinator (Dr. Back), and sometimes through the Departmental Newsletter (thanks Carole!) So, I'm just going to add this to our methods of communication.
One good thing about blogs is that the messages are archived on the blog. So, less cluttering of e-mail! I may send you emails from time to time, and then archive them on the blog, however. Another good thing about blogs are that you can respond to postings as well-and have your message posted on the blog. It's sort of like a message board that way. I'd like to keep it relatively informal, this being new, and blogs in academia being quite new, in general, so feel free to post!
Also, if you're interested in blogs, there's a Web conference, supported by Information Resources, called: Weblogs in Higher Education: What you Need to Know to Get Started.
(I'll post a separate message about it...)
So, feel free to respond to this message, or come back and have a look at future postings.
Happy Blogging!
